desert2After a leisurely morning, we bid El Paso adios and sped toward Roswell, NM. These roads were made for riding and, thus, we were led into the desert. After testing the maximum mileage capability of a tank of gas, we visited White Sands National Park. Amazing! The sand is a brilliant white and the consistency of sugar. The dunes are huge. This, combined with the heat, brought us to the brink incoherency.

So, we drank a lot—and not just water. We like Powerade better than the other “ades”, but some are better than others. Here is a sampling:

Powerade
Red - trying to be bad Hawaiin punch
Orange - like the Kool-Ade you drank as a kid
Yellowish - nasty color, good flavor
Green - not often available
Blue - tasty
White - don’t know what the flavor is, but it’s good

Up into the mountains, down to the desert and into Roswell, NM. Tonight we will go out and look for aliens!

We traveled from Texas to New Mexico and logged another 276.2 miles.
